E.L.F. Halo Glow Liquid Filter: It’s Terrible, Don't Buy It
This dupe for Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter is just a liquid highlighter. Don't fall for the marketing
The Truth About Halo Glow Liquid Filter: It Sucks
Talk about a lot of hype, specifically on TikTok, all for nothing.
I’ve been using it for 6 months and honestly…it’s a terrible product.
The first sin of Halo Glow is that it’s meant to be a dupe of Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter Glow Booster. Which is also a terrible product.
Why? It doesn’t know what it wants to be, and it’s just a product that we didn’t need, created for the sake of grabbing our dollars.
Unpopular opinion, it settles in and highlights all imperfections, fine lines, and it looks kind of…shiny and greasy.
Halo Glow Doesn’t Synch to my Skintone
The other issue specific to this Halo Glow formulation, which is that it doesn’t synch to skin tones very well. I’m a true neutral, I’m not really warm undertones and I’m not really cool undertones. It definitely pulls orange on me, and it’s not like I can get an exact shade match because there aren’t many shades.
It’s sort of a liquid highlighter, so why would there be as many shades as a foundation range? There wouldn’t.

Halo Glow: A Marketing Problem
The problem is, of course, the marketing. In trying to catch everything under its umbrella, it’s caught nothing, and it disappoints.
The back of my bottle says:
It creates a skin-enhancing soft-focus effect for effortless radiance. Uh, no it doesn’t. It leaves you with crow’s feet that are magnified and pores that are magnified…there is ZERO soft-focus effect.
How to use it:
Wear alone (don’t do that), under or over your makeup…what the hell product can you wear alone or under or over your makeup. That’s code for IT DOESN’T DO ANYTHING.
Mix with foundation (don’t do that, it ruins the longevity) or as a highlighter.
Yes, that’s the only good use I’ve found. AS A HIGHLIGHTER. WHICH IS WHAT THIS PRODUCT IS.
My Six Month Testing Notes
So my testing notes are:
It ruins the longevity of my other makeup, especially if I mix it in. Like it will make my longwear foundation wear off fast.
It’s too shiny or not shiny enough, it’s never just right.
Everything this product accomplishes, I can accomplish with powder highlighter.
There is nothing that E.L.F Halo Glow Liquid Filter does that my liquid Saie highlighter doesn’t do, or my powder highlighter doesn’t do, to tell you the truth.
So there you have it. A quick don’t buy it recommendation from me.
