What Does Artificial Intelligence Have to Say About Women's Hair Loss?
I was surprised by the good insights from ChatGPT AI on women's hair loss, researched by me, Helen Avery (Shrimpy McGee).

Hey everyone! Helen here (of Helen Avery, formerly called Shrimpy McGee). Intrigued by the weird photo above? Here’s the link to see what happened when I took on a Viviscal supplement challenge a few years ago.

One afternoon when I should have been cleaning out my earring holes, or hate-sweeping the stairs while muttering would it kill my other family members to do this? even though the stair detritus is about 80 per cent of my own disgusting fallen hair, or doing anything marginally useful, instead I was wasting time trying to stump ChatGPT with questions about the meaning of life while pondering whether this frighteningly speedy technology is going to Thanos-snap my writing career.
While I did not find a satisfactory answer to any of the above and if ChatGPT were the sassy sidekick in a Meg Ryan rom-com she 100 per cent would be rolling her eyes and serving up a “Girl Please,” to my inane questions, a lightening bolt hit me and I thought it would be smart to see what AI (artificial intelligence…where have you been?) has to say about hair loss, you know?
My fingers went flying across the keyboard as I peppered the chat box with questions, most of which I already know the answer to because I was (am?) a hair loss community creator for 5+ years.
I was expecting the dumb and the banal and I got that AND YET I was also surprised by its cogent and reassuring information about women’s hair loss on topics like androgenetic alopecia versus telogen effluvium.
Well, color me surprised. Hey, do you remember the 90s group Color Me Badd? “OohOohOohOohOohOohOoh-I-Wanna-Sex-You-Up”. Those guys? They tried so hard to be thirst-traps back in the 90s but they did not win over THIS teenager. My nickname for them was Color Me Uglyy. Anyway, I digress.
In the future I’ll ask AI these questions again, so stay tuned to this space (uh, which means, don’t unsubscribe and be sure to open my emails!) and we’ll see where this goes when we revisit it.
These are the hair loss related questions I put to artificial intelligence and if you want the nerd level: specifically the Large Language Model of ChatGPT4 in the summer of 2023.
[Disclaimer: Please note that these responses are not vetted by any medical professional, ChatGPT does not offer sources, and I too do not vouch for anything here except my one note about Rogaine below. This article is for infotainment purposes, you dig?]
This is what I prompted it with: “Hey, ChatGPT…
